What we expect ?:
We drove the 2016 Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400 at the start of 2016 and tested the 2016 Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400 on the track in July. Our first impressions were a touch mixed.
When you consider a sport sedan, you think that of “no-compromises,” sporty car but, in truth, the 2016 Infiniti Q50 is far more of a luxury sedan with a sporty streak. Well-appointed interior and cozy bolstered seating makes the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport a joy to drive on the road, but the Direct Adaptive steering mechanism (DAS for short) left us wanting more. In sport mode, the steering feels artificially heavy and as Jason Cammisa summed it up, the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400 “never reacts an equivalent way twice,” as a result.
Overall we found the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport “fast but not particularly rewarding to drive.”
Infiniti eventually hopes to urge obviate the steering column completely, eliminating the necessity for mechanical links between the wheel and therefore the front wheels and relying exclusively on a spread of electronic motors that move the wheel and send simulated feedback to the driving force.
